  1. #1 Best Colleges in TennesseeVanderbilt UniversityNashville, TN·4 Year·Rating 4.02 out of 5 1,351 reviewsGraduate Student: My time at Vanderbilt University was truly enriching. The academic atmosphere fostered a culture of excellence and intellectual curiosity that I found invigorating. The professors were not only knowledgeable but also deeply invested in the success of their students, providing invaluable mentorship and guidance. The campus itself is beautiful, with a vibrant campus life offering countless opportunities for personal and professional growth. I particularly enjoyed the plethora of extracurricular activities available, from student clubs to research initiatives. What stood out to me was Vanderbilt's commitment to diversity and inclusion, creating a welcoming environment for students from all walks of life. However, one area that could be improved is the accessibility of certain resources, especially for students from underprivileged backgrounds. Enhancing financial aid and support services for these students would further enhance the University.... I also enjoyed getting to know some of the professors on a personal basis, due in part to an event the school did every spring where professors would host a small number of students for dinner in their home. The faculty and staff were wonderful! I would love to see more leadership courses in the business department! Instantly, when I came to campus, I was met with a community and positive environment to grow in my academics and faith. Everyone is very kind and outgoing and since it is a smaller university it is elementary to find community and become involved on campus. What I find best at Lipscomb is student life and engagement. Lipscomb truly cares about your engagement and wants all students to thrive and find their vocation, not just simply get good grades. Due to the student-to-faculty ratio being 13 : 1, professors know your name and are very personable, which is very helpful! 6. #5 Best Colleges in TennesseeSewanee - The University of the SouthSewanee, TN·4 Year·Rating 3.73 out of 5 462 reviewsFreshman: If you are interested in Sewanee for the right reasons, then it gets five stars. The campus is gorgeous, but it's located on the plateau. It's not a big city university but Chattanooga and Nashville are close by. You get to know everyone including your professors. If you want to have your professors, ask you why you didn't show up for classes and you want all your professors to know who you are then you are in the right place. Professors here love to teach and get you involved. There are tons of things to do, just get involved and it's easy to get involved. It does have one main dining hall and a few smaller food venues. The food selection and commitment of the food service staff is superb. Housing does have its ups and downs; improvements are in progress. Sports are division III so join a team or just play for fun. Students support all the Sewanee teams. Travel abroad is highly recommended. Sewanee is a hidden gem for those who want to be there.... Plenty of nature and city life within an hour of campus! Some professors were incredible, challenging, and seemed to love their jobs. I'm disappointed this was a less common experience than professors who seemed to coast, had lazy curriculum/classes, and generally seemed unqualified for their position in teaching undergrad (or even graduate) university courses. 17. #15 Best Colleges in TennesseeLee UniversityCleveland, TN·4 Year·Rating 3.83 out of 5 1,590 reviewsAlum: Lee University was a fantastic school to develop fundamental skills for careers and future education. The professors were able to provide a complex BS in Biology curriculum while ensuring that it was easily digestible as we progressed in our learning. However, I had more success in some courses over others due to teaching styles and steep learning curves; if I were to change anything, it would be to reorganize the Organic Chemistry and Biochemistry classes to introduce new concepts at a steadier pace. Nevertheless, I had enough resources to adapt and overcome these obstacles. The campus, surrounding area, and food were excellent! Regarding social life, several amenities and events were available to make new connections. It was initially difficult as a commuter, but they added a new commuter center with accommodating events to boost inclusivity. I met so many new people from various parts of the world. I played volleyball and have met some of the people closest to me in my life. My roommate is also on the volleyball team and is now my best friend. We have gone on trips and gotten so close to each other. The food at King was pretty good. One thing I would change is to have more food options. There are five "stations" to choose from, but sometimes it is the same food that are repeated throughout the week. My favorite food at school was the macaroni and cheese bites or the sandwich bar. Another thing I would change is to put in more lights around campus. As a woman, I do not always feel safe walking around campus at night. The dorms were not bad at all. They were not great, but not the worst dorms I have seen. 25. Belmont UniversityNashville, TN·4 Year·Rating 3.7 out of 5 1,816 reviewsJunior: I'm currently majoring in Interior Design at Belmont University, and overall, I've had a fantastic experience! The program has provided me with a solid mind in design principles, technical skills, and creative thinking. I've enjoyed the small class sizes, it allow for personalized attention from professors. The university's focus on community and collaboration has also helped me build valuable relationships with peers and professionals in the field. One aspect I appreciate is the program's emphasis on sustainability, accessibility, and social responsibility in design. It's essential to consider the impact of our designs on people and the environment, and Belmont's curriculum prepares us for that. If I could suggest changes, I would like to see more diverse and contemporary course offerings, such as classes on biophilic design, and WELL Building Standard.Overall, I feel confident that Belmont's Interior Design program has equipped me with the knowledge to succeed in this creative field....
