Pay Schedules - OPA (2024)

Exceptions to regular pay, including premium pay for overtime, shift differentials, or work on holidays is paid on a two-week lag. Thishappens because exceptions that occurred during the second week of the pay period are reported after your pay is calculated.

Your pay for regular hours worked is calculated for the second week of the pay period and is adjusted for any exceptions in the following paycheck.

Certain Pay Schedules Vary

The following employees receive pay on a different schedule fromthe one outlined above. If you have questions, contact your Payroll Department.

  • Uniformed Sanitation employees and certain trade titles in the Department of Environmental Protection (DEP)are paid weekly. Pay days are Fridays, with a one-week lag for regular pay and two-week lag for exceptions.
  • Department of Education (DoE) teachers are paid semi-monthly. For some school programs,DoE makes separate payments to teachers and mails thesechecks to teachers' homes.
  • City University of New York(CUNY) Community College employees are paid bi-weekly. Adjunct and full-time professors do not have any pay lag.
  • New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA) employees are paid bi-weekly on Thursdays with a one-week pay lag.
