"the rolls themselves are not sickeningly sweet, which makes for good contrast with the icing. compared to other cinnamon roll recipes, this one is extremely quick and easy, but still soft and tasty!"

directions

  • Mix dry ingredients first, then cut in margarine.
  • Mix in soy milk until dough is soft (you may need slightly more or less to get the dough to a workable consistency). Do not over mix!
  • Roll dough to 0.25 inch thickness (0.5 cm) in a long rectangle -- about 8 inch by 16 inch (16cm x 32 cm). Using a pastry brush, coat the rectangle of dough with the melted margarine. Then spread the Sucanat and cinnamon over it.
  • Roll from the long end, forming a tight roll. Cut rolls about 1 inch (2 cm) thick. Place on a lightly greased baking sheet and bake at 450 degrees for 15 mins or until golden.
  • While rolls are baking, make icing by mixing margarine and powdered sugar. Slowly add soy milk to reach desired consistency. spread on rolls while they are still warm.

  1. I made cinnamon buns? O.O And I made them at 7am? And ....it worked? YES! I prepped the dry ingredients last night, and cut my margarine into pieces/stuck back in the fridge. Got everything ready to roll. Got up this morning and somehow pulled this off within 30minutes! You don't know me, I can't roll dough! This recipe has to be fool proof. I used brown sugar, added 1/4 cup walnuts, and all I had was vanilla soy milk, but that didn't seem to effect anything. Thank you so much for this recipe!

  2. Being a non-vegan, I used brown sugar and cinnamon to fill mine and they were wonderful! My husband said they were the best he ever had!

  3. They were pretty good, but I would have liked them a little gooier in the middle and the bottom was a smidge burnt, but I think that was my oven's fault. They aren't as good as the ones that take half a day to make, but for the amount of time it took and skill it takes to make them, they're not bad. Also, if you don't want them to be squished when you cut them, use fishing line or some type of wire and slide it under the roll and cross the ends of the strings over to the other side and pull sidewise so that you are cutting from all sides at the same time.

  4. Needed quick recipe...tried these w/ butter, milk, brown sugar and chopped walnuts in the recipe...then rolled out, cut into larger pieces and put each slice into a greased muffin pan...turned out great and easy. The outside of the rolls were not super soft, but very tasty.

  5. Wow! My very 1st attempt at cinn rolls & I think they turned out pretty good! I do have to wait for the hubby test :-). Frankly, I liked that they weren't terribly sweet & the dough was wonderful! I'm not a vegan either so I used skim milk & brown sugar. I didn't know how to bake the rolls; on their sides or right side up; I think it's supposed to be right side up. Mine only took 10 min. The dough was pretty easy to work with; I had to keep wetting my hands & spraying my cutting board so I could knead/roll without getting sticky. This was a great 1st effort; I'm totally encouraged :-). thanks so much for sharing!! UPDATE: hubby LOVED them--shocked me since I just wasn't sure if they were sweet enough for him! DOUBLE THANKS!
